Swedish Style Meatballs and Chips
Swedish Style Meatballs and Chips
These delicious, quick and easy meatballs are served in a creamy sauce that is really similar to the Swedish style we all know and love, but it takes just minutes to throw together - plus you can eat them in your slippers, in front of your favourite TV show!
SERVES: 4
DEFROSTING REQUIRED: No
TIME: 25 mins
TEMPERATURE: Oven 200C / Hot hob heat
METHOD
1. Preheat oven to 200C. Pop chips in to cook for 18-20 mins.
2. Soften onions and garlic in oil.
3. Fry off meatballs in pan until almost cooked. About 10-12 mins will do it. Remove from pan and set aside.
4. Add a stock pot to pan with a large splash of boiling water – about a small mugful. When melted, add the pot of cream and bring to boil. Season with pepper.
5. Add meatballs back in and let simmer for 5 mins whilst you cook the peas according to the instructions.
6. Season the chips and serve with the cranberry sauce.
ALTERNATIVES: Try adding a jar of tomato sauce instead of the creamy sauce for a different style.
HACKS: Add a spoonful of redcurrant jelly to make it sweeter, like the famous Swedish store’s meatballs.
