How to cook

Oven cook From Ambient

Cook 25 Mins Place in a pre-heated oven (425°F / 220°C / Gas mark 7). Bake for 25-30 minutes or until crust has risen and is golden brown. For Fan Assisted Ovens: Follow manufacturer's guidelines for temperature and cooking time. Ensure product is piping hot before serving.

very hard to open tin not enough meat in pie soggy bottom rubbish

Surprised to hear on one of the Royal Documentaries that HM The Queen's staff have these pies on standby in case all else fails. I have always loved them - the pastry is fabulous, crispy and tasty. The filling can be variable. But, what is there not to like about a pie in a tin?

very nice tasty and packaged well in a tin

Easy to cook - 25-30 mins (depending on your oven) & is a good taste - meat & kidney pieces not the filler sludge of many processed pies. & good value. Ideal for storage - a back-up

I don't buy Fray Bentos pies for the meat content which, given the price is obviously going to be low, but for the gorgeous texture and taste of the puff pastry and the sauce underneath, So it's a five star rating from me.

33% increase in no meat is still no meat! Tasty and a useful cupboard standby but you need a search fee to find any meat!

I loved these pies for years but they have went downhill, Baxters food group took over Fray Bentos in 2011 and stayed true to the recipe for years but lately the amount of filling is a disgrace and I'm surprised no one has mentioned the dry pastry, they have now even cut down on that lovely gooey stuff underneath. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it

Not enough meat, but the flavour is good and the pastry is nice. Very handy to keep a couple in the cupboard

Awful, kidney pies. Won't buy it again

What 33% More Meat? While tasty they are lacking something important – Filling – especially when the tin is emblazoned with ‘New Improved Recipe - 33% More Meat’ which seems to have gone AWOL in its entirety. Doubt I’ll be buying any more.
