Defrost Instructions

Defrost your turkey thoroughly on a tray in a fridge (no more than 4°C) allowing 10 to 12 hours per kg. Once defrosted remove the packaging (retain the label on the front of the bag), giblets and neck. Check that there are no ice crystals in the body cavity and that the legs are flexible before cooking. Once thawed do not refreeze. Once defrosted keep refrigerated and consume within two days.

How to cook

Oven cook From Defrost

Place turkey in a roasting tin and allow to stand at room temperature for an hour before cooking. Cover turkey loosely with lightly greased foil. Cook turkey in a preheated oven, removing the foil for the final 90 minutes. Remove from oven, cover with foil and rest for 30 minutes before carving. Preheat oven to: 180°C/160°C Fan/Gas Mark 4 Weight (kg): Less than 4kg, Approximate Cook Time: 20 minutes per kg + 70 minutes Weight (kg): Greater than 4kg, Approximate Cook Time: 20 minutes per kg + 90 minutes Check that the turkey is cooked by piercing the thickest part of the turkey with a skewer. When the turkey is cooked the juices should run clear. Please note all appliances vary, the cooking times above are guidelines only and turkey should be checked during cooking to avoid under or over cooking.

I brined the turkey for 2 days and then removed the legs and thighs to turn it into a turkey crown. I cooked it in a turkey bag for two hours before removing the bag and allowing it to brown. Leave to stand for 15 minutes. Perfect moist turkey breast. Better than the £70 bird that my sister bought last year. Cooked the legs separately.
