Vol-au-vent translates into English as ‘waft of air’ as these tasty little canapés are light and eaten in a second. Super simple to make and perfect for any Coronation party, we think the vol-au-vent is due for a revival this year! See method

What you’ll need

Ingredients

  • 500g Puff Pastry
  • Plain Flour for dusting
  • Iceland Coronation Chicken Sandwich Filler
  • 1 x Egg
  • Iceland North Atlantic Prawns
  • 1 jar Seafood Sauce
  • Iceland Small Button Mushrooms
  • 165g Philadelphia Garlic and Herb
  • Pepper to season

Method

  1. Defrost the pastry sheets according to pack instructions.
  2. Sprinkle some flour on a surface roll out the pastry to ½ a cm thick.
  3. Take pastry cutter and cut out as many circles as desired.
  4. Lay the circles onto a greased baking sheet and using the tip of a small, sharp knife, gently score a smaller circle in the middle, but only lightly, about halfway through.
  5. Brush each pastry circle with egg wash and cook in a 400F (200C) oven for about 20 mins until they rise and are golden.
  6. Remove from the oven and cool on a cooling rack, once cool, top with your choice of fillings.
